Mission Trips

For each of the past 10 years NUMC has made a commitment to organize at least one service project to provide help, hope, and Christian friendship to people in communities across the US.  In 2008 a group of young people and adults made another trip to the gulf coast to continue providing homes for people affected by hurricane Katrina.  Below is additional information about last year's trip as well as brief descriptions of some prior mission initiatives.

2009 Mission Trip to Kentucky: From July 11th to July 18th 35 servants traveled to the Henderson Settlement to help people in poor areas of Appalachia. The weather was fantastic (except for a downpour on our day off just when we were beginning to grill hamburgers and hotdogs at Cumberland Falls State Park) and we were able to complete a number of projects.

2008  D’Iberville, Mississippi

27 Volunteers returned to D’Iberville, including Patty & Olivia Yarber who were victims of Hurricane Katrina and recipients of a new home from previous mission trips.  They were thankful to be part of the team so they could give back to others.  We installed doors, trim, vinyl & laminate flooring, toilets, sinks, and dryer vents. This work was performed in five different houses helping five different families get that much closer to getting out of their trailers and re-starting their lives after Katrina.
