Recycle your bicycle

Those old bicycles gathering dust in garages or barns have value and need not join the millions that end up in landfills each year.

Bring your repairable used bicycles to the fourth annual bicycle collection for Bikes for the World at Pennswood Village on route 413, south of the Newtown bypass, on Saturday, September 25 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.  Bikes for the World collects usable but unwanted bicycles for shipment to developing countries, primarily in Latin America and Africa, for use by low income people in need of reliable transportation.

Tax-deductible receipts will be available for the value of the bicycles as well as cash donations.  A requested donation of $10 or more per bicycle will be used to help with shipping costs.  Tell your family and friends.  Donations of working portable sewing machines are also accepted.

For further information contact George Kurz at (215) 579-6974 or ghkurz@comcast.net, or Jon Harding at (215) 860-0408 or jhardingjon@aol.com, or Linda Krause at (215) 504-1123 or krause@pennswood.org or visit www.bikesfortheworld.org.
