Order of Worship
If you missed the last worship service, you can hear it by going to the home page -lower left.
The Worship Committee would like to invite you to write poems, prayers of confession, calls to worship and litanies that could be used in our worship services. As the psalmists did in the book of Psalms, you can pour out your true feelings, reflecting a dynamic, powerful, and life-changing friendship with God. The psalmists confess their sins, express their doubts and fears, ask God for help in times of trouble, and praise and worship God. Your writings will reach, touch and help others. We are also interested in volunteer speakers for Sunday mornings when Pastor Cramp is away. If you are interested in speaking or have any questions on speaking or writing, please contact the church office or the Worship Committee.
Committee Members
If you would like to speak with any member of our committee the Work Area on Worship consists of:
Kirk Heinz, chairperson; Peter Nicholson, Gordon Principi, Bonnie Prutow, Nancy Scurlock
OUR WORSHIP STYLE AND TRADITION
Sunday worship at Newtown U.M.C. is done in a style that could best be described as a structured traditional form of United Methodist worship carried out with an attitude of warmth and informality. Our hymns, responses, and songs are drawn from the United Methodist Hymnal and The Faith We Sing as well as original works of our organist, Ron McVey.
We celebrate The Lord’s Supper on the first and third Sunday of each month in addition to Ash Wednesday and Holy Thursday. On the first Sunday the sacrament is served kneeling at the chancel rail while on the third Sunday the form varies.
